Samsung has started releasing the stable One UI 8 update powered by Android 16 for select Galaxy devices, with the Galaxy S23 series now receiving the upgrade in South Korea. However, Indian users are yet to see the rollout on their devices.
The company confirmed that Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra are among the first models to shift to the new software. The rollout follows its release earlier this year for Galaxy S25 smartphones and the Galaxy S24 series. More Galaxy devices, including foldables, are expected to receive the update before the end of 2025.
Samsung’s delivery this year marks a sharp contrast to 2024, when users faced long delays in receiving One UI 7 with Android 15. At that time, several regions had to wait until mid-2025 before the update became widely available. With One UI 8, the company appears to be prioritizing faster distribution across its lineup.
Users with eligible devices can manually check for the update by navigating to:
1. Settings
2. Software Update
3. Check for Updates
4. Install and Reboot
Once installed, the device will run the stable version of One UI 8.
The new version introduces deeper integration of Samsung’s AI tools, supported by multimodal processing that allows faster responses to queries. Some functions can now run entirely on-device, reducing dependence on cloud-based processing.
Samsung has also enhanced device security in this update, expanding privacy options and strengthening Knox protection to safeguard user data against potential threats.
While the interface changes remain minimal compared to the overhaul in One UI 7, Samsung has positioned One UI 8 as a platform strengthening AI capabilities and security features for Galaxy devices.
Samsung has not yet confirmed the exact schedule for India. Galaxy S23 owners in the country are awaiting further announcements regarding the stable rollout.
