Samsung adds AI side button feature to Galaxy A Series smartphones

Samsung is bringing a touch of premium AI power to its mid-range Galaxy A series smartphones. Starting this May, an exciting new update will allow users of select Galaxy A models to launch Google’s Gemini AI assistant by simply pressing and holding the side button.
The update is rolling out globally for the Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy A36 5G, and Galaxy A26 5G. With this feature, users can quickly access AI-powered tools for everyday tasks—whether it’s checking your calendar, finding a place to eat, or coming up with gift ideas—all with a single gesture.
This smart update mirrors the experience previously reserved for Samsung’s high-end Galaxy S series and is part of the company's “Awesome Intelligence” campaign. The initiative aims to make advanced AI features more accessible by integrating them into affordable devices.
The Gemini assistant will support voice commands and smooth multitasking across Samsung, Google, and select third-party apps. For example, users can ask Gemini to locate a nearby restaurant and instantly share the location with a friend—all in one flow.
“Samsung and Google have worked closely to bring powerful AI features to more users,” said Jay Kim, Executive Vice President at Samsung Electronics. “This update gives Galaxy A users faster, more natural access to AI using just one button.”
With this move, Samsung continues to push the boundaries of mobile AI by bringing cutting-edge technology to a broader audience around the world.
