Google issued its July Android Security Bulletin without any patches for the first time since the program began in August 2015.

The company confirmed on its security page that there are no fixes for Android core vulnerabilities in this month’s release. That applies to all Pixel models and partners who rely on the same update stream.

Users of older devices running Android 12 or earlier will not receive any new protections. Google has also adjusted its Play Integrity API to limit support for apps on these legacy versions.

Pixel owners on Android 16 have received system updates recently that include security improvements as part of broader feature releases. However, those improvements do not extend to phones left on prior releases.

Samsung Galaxy devices continue to follow their own monthly schedule, delivering patches on a staggered timeline. As a result, many Galaxy users still expect separate security fixes later in July.

More than 1 billion Android devices remain on Android 12 or earlier. Owners of these models are advised to consider upgrades to maintain access to ongoing security support.
