Rumoured iPhone SE 4: BOE's OLED Shift & Supplier Drama

Apple's upcoming iPhone SE 4 is generating buzz in the tech world, with recent reports suggesting a significant shift in display technology. Unlike its predecessor, which featured an LCD screen, the iPhone SE 4, Apple's fourth generation 'Special Edition' smartphone is rumoured to boast an OLED display manufactured by BOE.

According to a report from ZDNet Korea, which cites industry insiders, BOE, a Chinese electronics component maker, has secured the contract to produce the OLED display for the rumoured iPhone SE 4. The report indicates that Apple had solicited bids from three suppliers—Samsung, BOE, and Tianma—for the next iteration of the iPhone SE, following the 2022 model.

Following Samsung's withdrawal due to business concerns, BOE is expected to supply most displays for the iPhone SE 4. Samsung Display quoted $35 to $40 (approximately Rs. 2,900 to Rs. 3,300) per unit, while Chinese firms aimed for $30 (around Rs. 2,500). In March, discussions between Apple and Samsung ended abruptly after Apple proposed a significantly lower price of $25 (about Rs. 2,100), leading Samsung to withdraw from negotiations. Rumours suggest that the iPhone SE 4 will resemble the iPhone 14 and include Face ID support.
