Xiaomi on Tuesday unveiled two new models in its Redmi Note series, pitching the standard Redmi Note 14 against the more budget‑oriented Redmi Note 14 SE 5G. Both handsets share core specifications but diverge in their displays, camera stabilization and materials, prompting buyers to decide between advanced features or accessory savings.
The Redmi Note 14 sports a glass‑style back panel and measures 6.67 inches diagonally, featuring an AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and full HD+ resolution. Its SE counterpart adopts a textured plastic finish and the same screen size and definition, but relies on an IPS LCD display. Xiaomi applied an IP54 rating for dust and splash protection on each device.
Under the hood, the Note 14 runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 7025 chipset, balancing multitasking and gaming performance. The SE 5G model uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, which offers extended battery life and integrated 5G support, though its processing headroom falls short of the Dimensity solution.
Photography configurations include a 50‑megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilization on the Note 14 and a 64‑megapixel sensor with electronic stabilization on the SE 5G. Both versions carry an 8‑megapixel ultra‑wide module and a 2‑megapixel macro/depth sensor.
Selfie shooters on both phones capture at 16 megapixels and record up to 4K video. The Note 14’s mechanical stabilization system delivers steadier footage compared to the SE 5G’s software‑based alternative.
Battery capacity stands at 5,000 mAh in both models. Charging rates differ slightly, with the Note 14 capped at 33 watts and the SE variant at 35 watts, resulting in near‑identical refill times.
Software layers on MIUI 14 over Android 13, offering features such as Game Turbo and Second Space. Xiaomi promises two major Android upgrades and three years of security updates for both devices.
Pricing begins at Rs 12,999 for the SE 5G and Rs 14,499 for the standard model. Buyers focused on display fidelity and camera stability may opt for the Note 14, while those prioritizing price and accessory budgets can choose the SE 5G without losing 5G connectivity or battery endurance.
