Redmi has officially announced the India launch date for its upcoming 5G smartphone. The Redmi 15 5G will be unveiled on August 19, with the product set to go on sale via Amazon. A microsite dedicated to the device is now live on the platform, hinting at its imminent arrival.
The smartphone will be offered in three colours: Frosted White, Midnight Black, and Sandy Purple. The device will feature a metal-framed camera module, which Xiaomi refers to as a "Royale Chrome Design." It will come equipped with a 6.9-inch display supporting a 144Hz refresh rate. The handset also carries an IP64 rating, offering resistance against dust and splashes.
Under the hood, the Redmi 15 5G will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset. The smartphone will run on HyperOS 2.0, which is based on Android 15. Key software highlights include integration with Google’s Gemini and Circle to Search tools, adding AI-driven enhancements to user interactions.
A 7,000mAh silicone-carbon battery will power the device. According to the company, even at 1 per cent charge, the handset is expected to provide up to 13.5 hours of use in Hibernation Mode. It will support 18W reverse charging and is likely to include 33W wired fast charging, based on preliminary reports.
On the camera front, the Redmi 15 5G will feature a dual-lens setup on the rear, led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor. The second lens is expected to be a 2-megapixel unit. For selfies, the handset may include an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Indian model is expected to launch with a configuration that includes 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Final pricing details and full specifications are yet to be disclosed and are expected closer to the launch date.
