Meta introduced its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses in India on Tuesday, marking the product's official debut in one of its largest consumer markets. Developed in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica, the eyewear integrates Meta’s AI assistant and is available in multiple frame designs, including the new Skyler variant.
Available for pre-order starting today, the glasses are priced between Rs 29,900 and Rs 35,700 depending on the model. They can be purchased online and offline through Meta's official retail partners. Consumers may also opt for prescription lenses at an additional cost.
Initially launched in the United States in 2023, the smart glasses now enter the Indian market as Meta continues its expansion in wearable technology across Asia. India is among the first countries in the region to receive official access to these AI-powered devices.
The glasses feature a 12-megapixel camera capable of recording 1080p videos for up to 60 seconds and support real-time content streaming to Facebook and Instagram. Designed for hands-free usage, they include five microphones and open-ear speakers engineered to deliver clear audio and voice capture.
The product connects to smartphones using the Meta View app. Supported lens options include sun, clear, and prescription variants. Battery life extends up to 36 hours with the included charging case, which also functions as a portable power bank.
Meta AI, the voice-activated assistant embedded in the glasses, can be accessed using the wake phrase “Hey Meta.” In the Indian release, the assistant supports text-based queries, with visual search capabilities expected in upcoming updates, following their rollout in the U.S.
With the smart glasses now on sale, industry observers note the possibility of Meta launching its Quest VR headset lineup in India soon. Currently, Quest devices are available in the country only through third-party sellers.
