Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon 7 Gen 4: Major upgrades in AI, gaming, and camera

Qualcomm has launched the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, the newest addition to its 7-series lineup designed to bring premium features to mid-range smartphones. This latest chipset boasts significant improvements in CPU, GPU, and AI performance to enhance gaming, imaging, and on-device AI capabilities.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 offers a 27% boost in CPU power and a 30% increase in GPU rendering compared to its predecessor. Gamers will benefit from smoother gameplay and faster response times, thanks to support for select Snapdragon Elite Gaming features. Despite its performance boost, the platform is built with energy efficiency in mind, ensuring longer battery life.
One of the standout features is the enhanced AI performance, which has improved by 65%. The chipset supports generative AI tasks such as on-device stable diffusion image generation and large language model inference, enabling faster and more private AI-powered functions like image editing and smart assistant features without relying on the cloud.
The platform also advances multimedia capabilities with upgraded image signal processors (ISP) for sharper photos and videos, improved low-light photography, and advanced computational photography. For audio, Snapdragon Sound delivers premium features including low-latency wireless audio and high-resolution music playback. Qualcomm's XPAN technology, previously reserved for the 8-series, is now available on this 7-series chip for the first time.
Major smartphone brands like Honor, vivo, and realme are among the first to integrate Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 into their upcoming mid-range and upper mid-range devices, with launches expected later this month.
Stay tuned as these new Snapdragon-powered devices hit the market, promising flagship-level features at a more accessible price point.
