Google has officially begun distributing its December 2025 software version update for Android 16-powered Pixel smartphones. Users daily performance will be significantly improved as the update includes many system fixes for display, battery, Bluetooth, and UI stability.
The announcement was made by the company on its Pixel support webpage, where they also mentioned that the new version would be released in stages depending on carrier approvals and regional availability. Manually checking for updates is recommended for users who do not get a notification right away.
The December patch is available for a large number of devices, starting from the Pixel 6 series and going up to and including the newest Pixel 10 models, foldables, and even more. The global market is mostly receiving BP4A.251205.006 firmware version. The EMEA region is getting the A1 build, while users in Japan are getting the C1 variant and users of Verizon in the U.S. will be receiving the B1 build.
Google has warned that rollout timing may differ and some users might get the update later in the week.
The update has resolved several problems related to screens, especially for the Pixel 10 series. The malfunctions that led to screens flickering, turning black, freezing or dimming unexpectedly have been eradicated. Also, the foldable Pixel smartphones will not have the issue of making the inner screen flicker during gaming sessions anymore.
The battery sector has seen improvements that involve fixing the malfunction where the icon was either blank or showing a question mark and tackling the abnormal operation of the 80% charge limit feature. Bluetooth connectivity has been made more robust, and the occasional pairing difficulty with some accessories has been tackled.
Google has made system-wide stability improvements at the same time. Issues with memory management, Picture-in-Picture behavior, and general performance in certain cases have been fixed. Sensor-related unsteady issues caused by memory allocation failures are no longer experienced. Pixel 6 series has also had its emergency calling reliability upgraded.
UI refinement includes among other things keyboard flickering, gesture navigation freezes, missing notification sounds, overlapping interface elements, Quick Settings inconsistencies, and crashes triggered by certain notifications. The overall performance has been improved through the smoothing of transition animations and system interactions.
The update enhances camera stability for the Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 devices thereby reducing their crashes under specific conditions. Audio reliability has also been enhanced for these devices. The Pixel 8, 8 Pro, and 8a have been granted improved Wi-Fi performance and connection stability.
