The second week of October has begun, and Google has yet to distribute this month’s security patch for its Pixel devices. The update is expected imminently, with Verizon preemptively publishing the official changelog for the new build.

According to Verizon’s documentation (via 9to5Google), the October firmware for Pixel phones still carries the September 2025 security patch. The Pixel 7, 8, and 9 models are assigned build number BP3A.251005.004.B1, while the Pixel 10 will receive BD3A.251005.003.W3. The release notes highlight two main interface fixes across all devices: a semi-transparent background issue appearing after the camera launches and a system crash triggered when using the Media Output Switcher to start or stop casting.

Some updates target specific devices. On the Pixel 9 and 10 series, the update resolves a problem with the flashlight status not appearing in the At a Glance widget. The Pixel 7 will receive a fix for a display and graphics issue that occasionally caused the screen to flicker or shut down.

This month’s update is minor in scope. Google’s next major Android 16 QPR2 Feature Drop is scheduled for December, meaning October’s patch does not introduce significant features. Last month’s September update included the Material 3 Expressive design overhaul, making the October release comparatively modest.

Pixel 10 owners may remain concerned about the phone’s GPU performance in games and benchmark tests. While the October patch may not fully resolve GPU-related issues, Google could address them in future releases by updating the device’s PowerVR GPU drivers, as it has done with previous models. Such improvements are likely to appear in Android 16 QPR2 or subsequent updates.

Although Google has not confirmed the official rollout date, Verizon’s publication of the release notes suggests the October patch could become available as soon as today, October 8.
