Google confirmed that it has rolled out a patch addressing a widespread Android Auto failure that affected Pixel 10 owners. The company urged users to install the most recent version of the app from the Google Play Store to restore functionality.
The Pixel 10 launch brought strong demand from existing Pixel users looking to upgrade. But instead of a seamless experience, many encountered issues when connecting their devices to Android Auto. Reports highlighted overheating, significant battery drain, and in several cases, the app failing to load beyond the initial screen.
User complaints posted in Google’s support forums detailed how vehicles successfully detected the phones but Android Auto froze on the splash screen, leaving drivers unable to use the system. The glitch, described as a “grey screen problem,” spread widely among Pixel 10 owners after the phone’s release.
Following weeks of reports, Google confirmed it had identified and corrected the issue. The company stated that Android Auto version 15.0 and newer includes the required fix, with a beta of version 15.2 also available for testers. A Play Store update is now live, and the company advises immediate installation for those experiencing the error.
However, early feedback suggests the solution may not be universal. Some users say the issue remains even after upgrading. One Pixel 10 owner posted that despite installing version 15.0, the error persists and Android Auto still refuses to function in their vehicle.
At present, Google has not issued additional guidance beyond recommending the update. The company has yet to confirm whether further patches are in development.
