Pixel 10 Pro Fold Launch Soon: Should You Wait or Buy Pro XL Now?

Google introduced the Pixel 10 lineup in India more than two weeks ago, expanding its premium smartphone portfolio. Three of the four models — Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL — are already available for purchase, while the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is expected to enter the Indian market in the coming weeks.

After extended usage of the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro XL, it is now possible to examine not whether these devices are worth buying, but which model fits best for Indian consumers weighing options between the four.

For years, Pixel devices were considered niche, targeting Google enthusiasts and Android purists. That perception shifted with last year’s lineup, as Google began refining its hardware and integrating software features tightly with Gemini AI. The Pixel 10 series builds further on that approach, offering improved cameras, displays, and build quality, positioning the devices among the strongest Android options in India.

Google has also strengthened its India presence this year. The company now sells the Pixel lineup directly through its Made by Google online store, expanded its network of service centers, and partnered with retail chains like Flipkart and Croma. However, Amazon remains outside the official distribution channel.

Among the new releases, the Pixel 10 Pro XL emerges as the most balanced device. Competing directly with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max, it undercuts both in price while offering high-end features.

The phone’s camera system remains a highlight, particularly its primary sensor, which ranks among the best in smartphones. Its 6.9-inch display delivers smooth performance for gaming and media consumption. The build quality features a durable glass back with a premium finish. While benchmark scores are not record-setting, the device performs consistently in real-world use with minimal heating.

A key advantage is the integration of Gemini AI tools. Buyers also receive a complimentary one-year subscription to Gemini AI Pro, valued at Rs 19,500, adding significant value to the package.

For users preferring a smaller form factor, the Pixel 10 Pro offers similar performance and features as the Pro XL but with a more compact 6.3-inch display.

The base Pixel 10, priced at Rs 79,999, delivers reliable performance but shows compromises compared with the Pro models. Its camera setup uses slightly downgraded hardware, and some premium features — such as the free Gemini AI Pro subscription — are missing. Against similarly priced rivals like the iPhone 16 and Galaxy S25, the Pixel 10 holds its own but does not offer the same value as the Pro variants.

The foldable option in the lineup, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, is yet to go on sale in India. Based on early specifications, it combines hardware elements of the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro while adding a foldable display. However, questions remain about whether its pricing will justify the value compared to the Pro XL.

For Indian buyers considering the new Pixel series, the Pixel 10 Pro XL provides the strongest balance of performance, features, and pricing. The Pixel 10 Pro is a solid alternative for those who prefer a smaller device, while the Pixel 10 delivers a competent experience but feels limited against similarly priced competitors. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s market reception will depend on how Google positions its price and value mix in the weeks ahead.
