Google has confirmed its annual "Made by Google" event will be held on August 20, where the Pixel 10 smartphone series is set to debut. The launch lineup is expected to include the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the new foldable model, Pixel 10 Pro Fold. However, industry reports indicate that the foldable variant may not be immediately available.
According to sources familiar with Google’s product roadmap, the company may roll out the Pixel 10 devices in two phases. The standard Pixel 10, Pro, and Pro XL are likely to go on sale by the end of August, while the foldable version and wearables could be pushed to October.
A report from WinFuture suggests that supply chain limitations are delaying the market availability of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Pixel Watch 4, and Pixel Buds 2a. These devices are still expected to be unveiled on launch day, but their retail release is likely postponed to October 9.
Insiders say the delay stems from the integration of new components into the foldable device. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is expected to feature a redesigned hinge, a new flexible display, and support for wireless charging via the Qi2 standard. It is also tipped to include an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. These hardware upgrades are reportedly contributing to longer manufacturing timelines.
Pre-orders for the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL will reportedly begin immediately after the launch event, with sales going live on August 28.
All Pixel 10 models are expected to run on Google’s next-generation Tensor G5 chipset, reportedly fabricated using TSMC’s 3nm process. Enhanced camera performance and expanded AI capabilities are also anticipated to be part of the upgrades in this cycle.
Despite the delay in availability, Google aims to retain market interest through incremental yet focused enhancements. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is expected to lead Google's foldable strategy with multiple storage variants and large screen real estate, making it a top-tier offering.
The August 20 launch is seen as a key step in Google’s ongoing strategy to compete against premium devices from Samsung and Apple. Further updates are expected as the event date nears.
