OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Go in India at ₹399 per Month

OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Go, a brand-new, India-exclusive subscription plan priced at ₹399/month—making it the most affordable ChatGPT tier to date.

Affordable Access Tailored to India

This tier is part of a tiered pricing strategy that includes ChatGPT Plus at ₹1,999/month and Pro at 19,900/month. By offering local pricing and support for UPI payments, OpenAI has lowered the barrier to access—especially for users without credit cards.

Enhanced Features Over Free Plan

ChatGPT Go users benefit from up to 10× higher limits on messages, image generation, and file uploads compared to the free version, as well as 2× longer memory and access to advanced tools like GPT-5, extended memory, and data analysis features. The plan provides capabilities like advanced data analysis, customizable GPTs, and Python tool support.

India as a Strategic Test Market

OpenAI views India as a critical growth market—its second-largest user base—and is using this localized launch as a testing ground for broader adoption strategies in emerging economies.

Subscription Details & Flexibility

Users can subscribe via their ChatGPT profile, selecting ChatGPT Go under “Upgrade Plan.” Payment options include credit cards and UPI, and subscriptions can be cancelled anytime. Refunds are available for erroneous charges, and VAT/GST exemption requests can be submitted through OpenAI support.
