OnePlus is gearing up for the launch of its next-gen Nord series smartphones, with the OnePlus Nord 5 expected to be the highlight. The device was recently spotted on the TUV Rheinland certification site, revealing a major upgrade in battery capacity.
Battery Details and Certification Insights
The OnePlus Nord 5, identified by model number CPH2079, has surfaced on TUV Rheinland’s database. Although the listing doesn’t explicitly mention the device name, it’s confirmed to be a OnePlus model. According to the certification, the phone will pack a 6,650mAh battery, a noticeable bump from the 5,500mAh unit in the Nord 4.
The listing also indicates support for 80W fast charging, similar to its predecessor, though earlier reports had hinted at 100W charging for the upcoming model—suggesting some uncertainty around final specs.
Expected Specs and Global Variant
Sources suggest the OnePlus Nord 5 could be a rebranded version of the OnePlus Ace 5 Racing Edition, which is slated to launch in China this month. This model is rumored to be powered by the yet-to-be-announced MediaTek Dimensity 9400e chipset. It may also feature a 6.77-inch flat display with an optical in-display fingerprint scanner.
Camera specs might include a 50MP + 2MP dual rear setup and a 16MP front shooter, with the device possibly sporting a plastic middle frame. While the core features between the Chinese and global versions are expected to be similar, minor differences may exist.
Other Developments
In addition to the Nord 5, OnePlus is working on the Nord CE 5, which has been spotted on India’s BIS and the TDRA certification site, confirming its name. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 13s, also expected to launch soon in India, has been listed with model number CPH2723.
What to Expect
With its improved battery and promising specs, the OnePlus Nord 5 is shaping up to be a worthy successor to the Nord 4, which launched globally in July 2024 at a starting price of ₹29,999. More official details are expected in the coming weeks as the launch approaches.
