OnePlus is preparing to introduce its latest midrange smartphones, the Nord 5 and Nord CE 5, at its Summer Launch Event on July 8. The event, which will be streamed live on YouTube and the company’s social media channels, marks a key moment in the brand's efforts to strengthen its position in the competitive midrange market.
The Summer Launch Event, where both smartphones will debut, will begin on July 8 and be available for streaming online. OnePlus will disclose final pricing and availability during the livestream.
OnePlus Nord 5: Flagship-Level Power in Midrange Segment
The OnePlus Nord 5 is expected to be priced between Rs 30,000 and Rs 35,000. It will reportedly feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, making it the first Nord device to use this high-end processor. The chip will be coupled with LPDDR5X RAM, aiming for smoother multitasking and efficient power management.
The device is expected to sport a 6.83-inch AMOLED display. In terms of optics, the Nord 5 will likely carry a dual-camera setup on the rear with a 50MP Sony LYT-700 main sensor and an 8MP ultrawide lens. A 50MP front-facing JN5 camera with autofocus is expected for selfies and video calls. Both front and rear units are tipped to support 4K video capture at 60fps.
To maintain optimal performance, the phone could include a 7,300mm² vapour chamber for thermal management. Unlike recent trends, OnePlus appears to be avoiding AI-based feature additions in this device. The build will combine glass and metal materials.
OnePlus Nord CE 5: Affordable and Capable
Targeted at a slightly lower price point, the Nord CE 5 is expected to be available around Rs 25,000. It may compete directly with offerings from Xiaomi, Realme, and Samsung in the same range. Under the hood, it is likely to run on MediaTek's Dimensity 8350 Apex chipset.
The device is anticipated to feature a 6.77-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display. For photography, the Nord CE 5 may come with a 50MP primary sensor paired with an 8MP ultrawide camera at the rear. The front camera is expected to have a 16MP sensor.
With these new devices, OnePlus aims to regain its midrange user base and counter strong competition from other brands.
