India’s year-end shopping frenzy has significantly impacted the premium smartphone market, leading the OnePlus 15 to surprisingly occupy a price segment that wasn't predicted during its launch. The aggressive festive season marketing, along with bank and exchange offers, has managed to bring down the flagship phone's cost to below Rs 40,000 on the most well-known retail sites like Amazon, Flipkart, and Croma.
This trend is becoming the most vivid in a market where the best Android phones still cost more than mid-range prices even during the sale periods.
The OnePlus 15 model with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal memory is now priced at Rs 72,999, which is a direct price cut from the previous price of Rs 76,999. Additionally, customers using certain HDFC Bank or Axis Bank credit cards will receive an instant Rs 4,000 discount at the checkout.
On top of this, exchange programs drastically lower the ultimate price. Depending on the age and condition of the used phone, retailers will give an exchange price of up to Rs 44,450. Even if one takes a moderate estimate of exchange value around Rs 25,000, a buyer can get the effective price down to close to the Rs 40,000 mark and, in some cases, even slightly below it.
The OnePlus 15 presents a flatter body profile which steps away from the rounded edges, thus embedding an approach to design resembling that of the models that were revealed earlier in the year. The phone comes with an LTPO AMOLED panel measuring 6.78 inches diagonally, having the 1.5K resolution, 165Hz refresh rate, and a maximum brightness of 1,800 nits.
Although the resolution of the panel has decreased from the previous generation's QHD standard, the firm claims that the transition allows for smoother high refresh performance without the drawback of stability and daily usability.
The OnePlus 15 is undoubtedly powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset along with the Adreno 840 GPU at its center. The device provides support for a 16GB LPDDR5x Ultra+ RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage configuration, thus, it can be considered as one of the highest-performing Androids.
Moreover, the smartphone boasts a touch response chip particularly designed for the purpose that provides 3,200Hz touch sampling rate and comes along with a separate Wi-Fi chip that is aimed at improving the consistency and range of the signal.
The OnePlus 15 running on OxygenOS 16 developed on Android 16 integrates AI-driven features which also include the company’s Plus Mind system enabling the expanded Google Gemini support. OnePlus has launched the promise of four major Android version updates and six years of security patches which is a clear-cut software road map that is longer than most of its bathroom competition in the same price range.
The photography setup on the OnePlus 15 is built around three 50MP rear cameras: a Sony IMX906 main sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide lens with a 116-degree field of view, and a 50MP periscope tele with 3.5x optical zoom plus up to 7x lossless digital zoom. A 32MP Sony IMX709 RGBW sensor with autofocus is included in the front camera specification of the phone.
A 7,300mAh dual-cell battery powers the device. Apart from 120W wired fast charging, the device also supports 50W wireless charging thus placing OnePlus 15 in the fast charging smartphones sector for the Indian market.
With flagship-grade hardware now at a mid-range effective price, the OnePlus 15 has become one of the most followed smartphone bargains of the season.
