Two of this month’s highly anticipated flagship smartphones, the OnePlus 15 5G and Realme GT 8 Pro 5G, are set for their initial release in China before going global. Ahead of the official launch, both brands have started revealing key specifications, while tipsters have leaked details regarding camera upgrades, fueling speculation about their photography capabilities.
Insider information from Chinese leakster Digital Chat Station suggests the OnePlus 15 5G will include a triple camera system. The primary lens may feature a 1/1.5-inch sensor, likely a Sony Lytia LYT-700 or Sony IMX906. A 1/2.76-inch Samsung JN5 sensor could handle periscope telephoto functions, while a 50MP ultrawide camera may use Samsung ISOCELL JN5 technology. If confirmed, the main and telephoto sensors appear smaller than those in the OnePlus 13, hinting at a possible downgrade in camera hardware.
The Realme GT 8 Pro 5G is also expected to adopt a triple camera design. Its main camera may use a 1/1.5-inch Sony Lytia LYT-700 sensor, complemented by a 200MP periscope telephoto lens featuring a 1/1.56-inch Samsung ISOCELL HP5 sensor. Details regarding the ultrawide lens remain scarce. While the camera setup looks competitive, Realme has positioned the GT 8 Pro as a performance-focused device rather than a camera-centric model.
The GT 8 Pro will reportedly run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, promising enhanced performance in gaming and multitasking. Both the OnePlus 15 5G and Realme GT 8 Pro 5G aim to deliver high-end specifications, but their camera capabilities may not be the primary selling point.
Consumers will need to wait for the official China and global launches to see how the devices perform in real-world scenarios. Both smartphones are expected to compete in the premium flagship segment, balancing camera features with overall performance.
