Samsung’s One UI 8.5 software, which is intended for Galaxy smartphones and tablets, has a new user interface that is centred on its new visibility features and flexibility. The change is soon to be rolled out in conjunction with the Galaxy S26 series.
The newest layout and interface changes that the software update brings are mainly in the Quick Settings panel and the system. Leaks of the new UI have been shared by notable tipster Tarun Vats on X in the form of screenshots.
By Vats’s leak, the Quick Settings area has got a new look with thin borders accentuating the inactive shortcuts and thus fairly distinguishing them from the background. The interface also got a clarity boost across the board with this unseen change as it made the users’ identification of toggles faster.
Another possible hint of the aesthetics Samsung is moving toward a more transparent and lighter design is the glassy overlay of the new look. This new look is expected to be one of the major reasons behind another upcoming interface change Samsung is said to be taking cues from Apple’s iOS 26 layout approach.
The introduction of the new features will certainly make the One UI 8.5 a much more user-friendly interface than the current one which has a single slider each for brightness and volume along with the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggles. The feature to resize the individual tiles also likely comes from Android 16, which allowed a similar customization.
Initially, Samsung was set to begin One UI 8.5 beta testing in November, but there are now rumors of a delay in their testing schedule. The gradual release is now likely to coincide with the official launch of the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026.
