The Galaxy S25 series is currently under Samsung's One UI 8.5 beta program, the developments of which are closely watched by users and tech enthusiasts who are now waiting for the second beta update. The rollout of the first test build happened just over a week back and that marks the official start of the beta program.
Apart from smartphone users, industry observers have also noticed a new beta build that has been identified with the version ending in ZYLD and that it has shown up on Samsung's servers recently. This is roughly a week after the last build showed up which often is a pattern indicating a public release soon. The first beta update had come only three days after the initial build so the current gap is longer and probably signifies wider distribution.
A major change that is likely to be part of the upcoming update is the comeback of the Dual Rec and Single Take camera modes. These functions were not part of the initial beta, but now they are likely to come back with an update to the Camera Assistant app and hence providing the users with the loved functionalities once again.
December 22 is the date suggested by sources that are familiar with the beta rollout as the launch date for the second phase, although there has been no official confirmation yet. The release timeframes for beta programs, in general, remain flexible and are subject to change based on testing and stability feedback.
There is also speculation going on about the possibility of extending the beta program to more Samsung devices. In such case, at least one more device would be there along with the Galaxy S25 beta to receive the second update. Samsung has been known to sometimes launch multi-device beta versions at the same time, but this is not the case as no such plan has been communicated for the current cycle.
The One UI 8.5 beta program has been a major attraction for Samsung users who are always keen to know about the latest interface improvements, testing camera features, plus giving feedback before the final stable release.
