OLED iPads Coming Soon? Apple Plans Display Changes for Multiple Devices

As per a Bloomberg report, Apple is going to upgrade the displays in a number of products and the OLED technology could end up in the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iPad Air, and iPad Mini in the near future.

The iPad Mini may be the lucky one to get the new display first, maybe even in the year 2026. In the display, the OLED panel would have the double advantage of clearer images and consuming less power at the same time, thus prolonging the life of the battery. The sources also mentioned that the new iPad Mini model would have a new casing, which could be water-resistant just like the iPhone's, although the exact rating (IP67 or IP68) has not been revealed yet. Some experts believe that these changes could lead to an increase of around $100 (approximately Rs 8,400) in the iPad Mini's launch price.

It’s certain that Apple’s iPad Air will also get hold of the cutting-edge OLED technology after the iPad Mini, but probably not with the M5 model that is expected in the next year. Indeed, the industry is whispering about a 2027 release for the Oled iPad Air. Meanwhile, the next-gen M5 MacBook Air will still incorporate an LCD screen, as per the case with the predecessors; hence, MacBook Air users may look forward to the year 2028 for a similar display upgrade.

In addition to display updates, Apple is said to be confronted with a number of issues hampering the development of its first foldable iPad. The design complications have pushed back the durability tests and consequently the launch dates, yet the hopes for a release just a year after the OLED iPad Mini are still alive.

Over the same period, Apple intends to concentrate on its AI strategy, which seeks to strengthen Siri AI and directly compete with OpenAI and Google. Moreover, the company is preparing to dive into the foldable iPhone market while still focusing on its current product ecosystem.
