Nvidia’s new RTX 5060 Ti graphics card was supposed to be a solid mid-range option for gamers — but it’s turning out to be a big disappointment, especially the 8GB version. In fact, in some situations, it’s slower than Intel’s cheaper Arc B580.

Let’s break it down

The RTX 5060 Ti comes in two flavors: 8GB and 16GB of VRAM. The 16GB model does pretty well if you can get it near its $430 price tag. But the 8GB version? Not so much. Even at $380, it’s struggling — and for a brand-new $400 GPU, 8GB of VRAM in 2025 just isn’t enough.

Sure, you can play most games at lower settings. But why settle for lower when you're paying premium prices? When you push for higher quality settings, the 8GB card runs into big problems — poor performance, stuttering, and games using up more VRAM than it can handle.

That’s where Intel’s Arc B580 comes in. Even though it’s supposed to be a lower-tier GPU, it ships with 12GB of VRAM. Originally priced at $250, it’s now usually selling closer to $330. While still overpriced, it’s at least better prepared for today’s VRAM-hungry games.

Here’s the kicker: while the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB should be faster on paper — in fact, it’s about 40% faster on average when VRAM isn’t the bottleneck — its lack of memory causes it to lag behind the B580 in games that demand more than 8GB.

In recent tests, the B580 actually outperforms the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB in those VRAM-limited scenarios. That’s an embarrassing result for a GPU that’s priced 35% higher and marketed as a higher-tier product.

Of course, neither of these cards is perfect. The B580’s real-world price is higher than expected, and it needs more CPU power to run well. Meanwhile, the 5060 Ti 8GB runs fine if you avoid VRAM-heavy games or lower your settings. But for gamers spending close to $400, compromising like that doesn’t feel right.

In short:

Want better long-term performance? Skip the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB.

Intel Arc B580 offers more VRAM but isn’t the fastest either.

Better options might be coming soon — keep an eye on AMD’s upcoming Radeon RX 9060 series.

Our advice? If you’re shopping for a new GPU under $400, it’s worth waiting. Don’t fall for the trap of an underpowered 8GB card at today’s prices.
