Nvidia drops another GPU Driver Hotfix, but problems persist

In a rather unexpected turn of events, Nvidia has rolled out yet another hotfix for its GeForce graphics drivers, just a week after the release of version 576.15. While it aims to resolve issues from the earlier 576.02 update, users are still reporting persistent problems, despite these latest adjustments.
The newly released GeForce hotfix driver, version 576.26, includes an additional 10 fixes on top of the 576.15 update launched on April 21. These fixes primarily address issues experienced with RTX 50-series cards in popular titles like Black Myth: Wukong, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Horizon Forbidden West. Other fixes include issues related to LG monitors and GPU temperature tracking after waking the PC from sleep mode.
However, there’s a catch. Currently, only the original 576.02 driver is available through the Nvidia app, which was released alongside the launch of the RTX 5060 Ti on April 16. Hotfixes like the 576.26 aren't made available directly through the app. Users need to manually download them if they wish to apply these fixes.
Hotfix Version 576.26: A List of Updates
The update aims to tackle a wide range of issues, including black screen glitches and freezing in certain games. One user reported that the driver fixed issues with connecting to their LG monitor via DisplayPort 2.1 while using HDR. However, other users, particularly those playing Horizon Forbidden West, claim the latest hotfix did not resolve their crashing issues.
The Nvidia support page clarifies that these hotfixes are optional and experimental, intended to address urgent problems quickly. However, users are cautioned that hotfixes undergo a much faster and less thorough QA process, and Nvidia recommends waiting for official WHQL-certified drivers for a more stable and safe upgrade.
Nvidia’s feedback threads are already filled with mixed responses to the 576.26 update. While hotfixes aren’t a regular occurrence for Nvidia, the company has released multiple hotfixes in recent months for both the 576 and 572 driver versions. Users will have to keep an eye out for the full driver update in the coming weeks, which should include all the fixes from these hotfix versions.
In the meantime, Nvidia will continue to offer the 576.26 hotfix as a temporary solution, available for download directly through their website.
