Nothing has officially unveiled the Phone (3a) Community Edition in India. This limited-run smartphone is directly influenced by its global user community. Unlike regular launches, this model is included in Nothing’s Community Edition Project which allows the creators to impact hardware, software, accessories, and marketing strategies.
In this year alone, independent designers and creators sent in over 700 submissions which showed the increasing interest in collaborative innovation. From the submissions, four contributors were selected to work on the device’s major aspects.
The phone and its accessories had their hardwares and packaging done by Emre Kayganacl who got his inspiration from the aesthetics of the technology in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The Community Edition also features an accessory called Dice, which is the first to be included, as a collectible designed by Ambrogio Tacconi and Louis Aymonod. The accessory, which has Nothing’s Ndot 55 font as well as some widely accepted symbols of play, further strengthens the brand’s creative philosophy.
On the software front, designer Jad Zock introduced a tailored lock screen clock with adjustable font weights for better readability and minimal clutter. The phone comes preloaded with four wallpapers that align with the device’s colour themes and user interface. Marketing efforts, led by Sushruta Sarkar under the campaign Made Together, highlight the collective effort behind the product’s creation.
Nothing’s collaborative approach extends past product design. A Community Board Observer has been elected, and a $5 million community investment fund will be launched under the company’s $1.3 billion Series C valuation. Investors gain early access to the fund on December 10, while public participation opens on December 11.
The Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition is priced at Rs 28,999 and it is only available in a single combination of 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. Just a total of 1,000 pieces will be made worldwide. In India, the gadget will be available for sale through an exclusive limited-drop event on December 13, 2025, at 33&Brew, Prestige Technostar, Bengaluru, between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. IST.
