New Delhi: In a bold move that’s already sparking debate in the tech world, Nothing is preparing to launch its next-generation smartphone—the Nothing Phone 3—with a major design overhaul that ditches the brand’s now-famous Glyph lighting interface. The smartphone is expected to make its debut in July 2025, and insiders say it’s being positioned as Nothing’s most powerful device to date.

No More Glyphs: A Design Shift

Nothing’s Glyph interface—those blinking LED strips on the back of its first two phones—was more than a gimmick; it became a core part of the company’s identity. But now, Carl Pei and his team appear to be moving away from that aesthetic in favor of a cleaner, more premium look.

This move suggests a strategic pivot: Instead of standing out through quirky design, the company now wants to compete directly with top-tier flagship phones based on raw performance and clean minimalism.

What to Expect Under the Hood

While official specs remain under wraps, early whispers from industry analysts point to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, a 120Hz LTPO AMOLED display, and possibly 12GB of RAM with up to 512GB of storage. Battery life is also expected to see an upgrade, with fast charging likely to continue as a core feature.

On the camera front, sources suggest a triple-lens system with a new AI-powered image processor, aimed at improving low-light photography and video stabilization.

Aiming for the Flagship League

One of the most noticeable changes could be the price tag. While the Nothing Phone 1 and 2 were positioned in the mid-range segment, the Phone 3 is reportedly set to launch at a premium price point, possibly around ₹85,000–₹90,000. That would place it in direct competition with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S24 and iPhone 15.

Carl Pei is no stranger to bold product strategy, and the company seems confident that the improved hardware, slick software, and evolved brand philosophy will justify the jump.

Will the Brand Identity Survive?

Removing the Glyph interface raises a larger question: will the brand lose part of what made it special?

Tech commentator Sahil Mehta says, “It’s a risky but calculated step. If the Phone 3 nails the flagship experience and offers the same intuitive NothingOS, users might not miss the Glyph lights at all. But for early adopters, it will feel like the end of an era.”
