British tech innovator Nothing has officially confirmed the launch date of its much-anticipated Phone 3 — July 1, 2025. Along with the announcement, the company teased a significant design overhaul that could mark the end of its iconic Glyph Interface.

In a short teaser video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Nothing hinted at the debut of a dot-matrix-style back display that may replace the signature rear LED lighting system seen in previous models. The animation showcased LED pixel effects that sparked speculation about interactive possibilities such as custom animations and even mini games, similar to features seen on ASUS’ AniMe Vision display in its ROG series.

➤ “We Killed the Glyph Interface” – Nothing Teases a New Chapter

The teaser video was accompanied by a bold statement: “We killed the Glyph Interface,” fueling expectations that Nothing Phone 3 will introduce a back display that is more than just visual flair. If the rumors hold true, the dot-matrix display could enable real-time interaction with notifications, offer aesthetic customization, and even support retro-style games like Snake.

➤ Premium Build, Flagship Ambitions

At Google’s Android Show: I/O Edition last month, Nothing co-founder and CEO Carl Pei revealed the Phone 3 as the brand’s first “true flagship.” Though the design remained obscured, Pei’s remarks suggested a shift towards premium materials such as metal and glass, signaling a major leap in design and performance for the brand.

This is a strategic step forward for Nothing as it competes in the increasingly saturated Android flagship market dominated by brands like Samsung, Google, and OnePlus.

➤ Other Launches Lined Up

The Nothing Headphone 1, co-created with UK audio experts KEF, is also expected to debut alongside the Phone 3 in July. Fans are eagerly awaiting to see how the brand’s signature design language and audio engineering translate into the headphone space.
