Nothing has set September 18 as the release date for its fourth-generation flagship wireless earbuds, the Nothing Ear 3. The company, which briefly dropped numerical branding in its last model, said it was reinstating the sequence after feedback from customers.
Andrew Freshwater, who heads global smart products marketing at Nothing, said that returning to a clear product sequence was important for users familiar with the original Ear (1) and Ear (2).
Promotional images shared on X suggest that the Ear 3 will retain the transparent casing that has become Nothing’s trademark. The visuals also show a metallic sheen, pointing to a possible new finish in addition to standard Black and White variants.
Reports indicate that the Ear 3 may include a redesigned dual-driver system to deliver improved sound output. Enhancements to active noise cancellation (ANC) and transparency mode are also anticipated, alongside longer battery performance.
The company’s recent collaboration with British audio brand KEF, which worked on Nothing’s Headphone 1, is expected to influence the new earbuds as well. KEF’s engineers previously optimized drivers and acoustic chambers for a more natural sound profile, and the same expertise is likely being applied to the Ear 3.
Nothing’s earlier model, launched in April 2024, was equipped with 11mm custom drivers, 45dB ANC, and support for high-resolution codecs LHDC 5.0 and LDAC. It also offered Clear Voice 3.0 and integrated ChatGPT as a voice assistant option on supported devices.
With the upcoming Ear 3, the company appears to be building on that foundation to expand its premium wireless audio portfolio.
