New Call Recording Feature Rolls Out on Nothing Phone 3 in India & Globally
Essential Space app rollout allows Nothing Phone 3, 3a, 3a Pro users to record calls and view AI summaries. Automatic update now live in multiple countries.

Nothing has started rolling out a call recording function on the Essential Space app for eligible Nothing Phone 3 series smartphones, the company confirmed on X. Users can initiate call recording by pressing and holding the Essential Key located on the side of the device while on a call. Alternatively, the recording can be activated through a button in the notification tray.
After the call, the Essential Space app provides an audio file along with a summary and a detailed breakdown of the main topics discussed. The update is not manual and will be delivered automatically in India by October 7. The feature is currently available in India, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the United Kingdom. Nothing has not confirmed whether older phone models will receive the update.
Essential Space is Nothing’s AI-powered productivity hub embedded in Android-based Nothing OS. Accessible via the hardware Essential Key, it allows users to capture voice notes, screenshots, and other content. The AI processes the data to create summaries, organise tasks, and generate actionable suggestions. The feature is available on Phone 3, Phone 3a, and Phone 3a Pro models, with the app launching via the dedicated hardware key.
Nothing is also developing Essential, an AI platform designed to serve as the foundation for a future AI-native operating system called Essential OS. Essential apps enable users to create customised tools using natural language prompts. Examples include compiling receipts into weekly PDFs or producing one-page call briefs from calendar entries and messages. These apps can be added to the home screen, enabling workflow personalisation.
The company positions the platform as a shift from standardised applications toward practical, AI-driven solutions for daily tasks. Essential Space updates and expansions continue to enhance device functionality and productivity capabilities.
