With the release of their new Edge 70 smartphone, Motorola has joined the ranks of manufacturers producing ultra-thin devices. It is said to be an ultra-svelte smartphone that impeccably combines performance, design, and durability, while at the same time, it is still reasonable price-wise. Besides, the Edge 70 is said to be a practical option in the ultrathin phones category, though it does not sacrifice the main features necessary for everyday use.
It is to be noted that the Edges 70 is 5.99mm thick which is just a bit heavier than iPhone Air’s 5.64mm and Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge’s 5.8mm, but in contrast to other brands, Motorola’s claim is that he has an advantage in the area of weight.
The device weighing only 159 grams has a major advantage over competitors and is easier to hold and carry during long periods of time. It also boasts of having been certified according to MIL-STD-810H, and having IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance ratings, thus being able to survive the toughest treatment.
A 6.7-inch AMOLED display is featured in the phone and it runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor. The customers have the option of 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage which suits user requirements perfectly.
The Edge 70 has a battery that can be charged with a silicon-carbon cell and has a capacity of 4,800mAh which can last longer than expected. Motorola asserts that the phone can last up to 50 hours between charging with normal use. The phone comes with 68W wired and 15W wireless charging, so it can quickly get back its power.
For photography, there is a dual rear camera system with a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. The front-facing camera also offers a 50-megapixel resolution, which is perfect for high-quality selfies.
The phone has Android 16 pre-installed and will get three more OS upgrades in the future with security updates planned until 2031. The Edge 70 has been released by Motorola in three colorways: Bronze Green, Lily Pad, and Gadget Grey. The polycarbonate body comes with a slim magnetic protective case, which is included in the package, as a complement.
On November 5, the Edge 70 will be available for purchase in the U.K., Europe, Latin America, and some other regions, set at a price of £700 (around $915), which is lower than that of its premium competitors.
Although there has been no confirmation regarding a U.S. release, Motorola has a pattern of rolling out devices at different times for various markets and sometimes renaming them, thus keeping open the likelihood of an American launch.
