Minecraft Update Adds New Painting and Lava Chicken Music

Minecraft: Java Edition has released update 1.21.7, introducing two fresh in-game items and a suite of bug and technical fixes.

The new items include a painting titled "Good Boy" by Sarah Boeving and a music disc named "Lava Chicken" from Hyper Potions. According to the June 25 release notes, players can acquire the "Lava Chicken" disc by defeating a Baby Zombie riding a Chicken, also known as a Chicken Jockey.

Technical versions have also been adjusted: the Data Pack has advanced to version 81 and the Resource Pack to version 64.

Among the resolved issues are rendering errors on devices with Qualcomm graphics, such as incorrect moon display (MC-297748) and map rendering faults (MC-298448). Text elements tagged with "shadow" without "see-_through" were corrected to eliminate z-plane conflicts at close range (MC-298681), and TrueType Font glyph placement over interface components was improved (MC-298710).

Graphical glitches affecting droppers and dispensers oriented vertically were fixed (MC-298832), and underwater fog effects for blindness and darkness now function correctly (MC-298856). A memory leak in ItemStackRenderState causing out-of-memory errors has been patched (MC-299071), and startup crashes on certain AMD graphics setups were addressed (MC-298879).

Server stability has been enhanced by preventing crashes when specific mobs ride turtles (MC-299126) and ensuring force upgrades record new DataVersion entries (MC-299110). Pack format incrementation after breaking changes is now consistent (MC-299130), and texture management during resource reloads no longer leaks resources (MC-298898).
