At Microsoft Corp.'s Silicon Valley campus, a 35-year-old software engineer of Indian descent passed away. According to a family member, the worker, identified as Pratik Pandey, entered the office late on August 19 and was discovered dead in the early hours of August 20.
Pandey worked directly for Microsoft's executive vice president for Cloud and AI, Scott Guthrie, on Microsoft Fabric, a data analytics platform that competes with businesses like Snowflake Inc.
The cause of death is being investigated.
The cause of death has not yet been verified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office. According to family members, Pandey was known to regularly work late hours on campus.
Family tribute
In a heartfelt announcement for a viewing service scheduled in the Bay Area, family and friends remembered Pandey as “a joyful soul with a radiant smile, Pratik loved playing soccer, great son & friend.”
Microsoft has not issued an official statement on the incident so far.
