Microsoft launches ‘Recall’ and new AI features for Copilot+ PCs

New AI tools aim to supercharge productivity with smarter search, AI writing assistance, and background screenshot capturing.
New Delhi, April 27, 2025 –
After months of anticipation, Microsoft has officially rolled out its much-talked-about 'Recall' feature, along with a suite of new AI capabilities, for Copilot+ PCs. These features mark a significant leap forward in Windows 11’s AI-driven experience.
Copilot+ PCs Get New AI Boost
Now available on select Copilot+ PCs, the Recall feature (currently in preview), Click-to-Do, and an upgraded Windows Search aim to elevate user productivity and overall experience.
"Windows has always been the birthplace of innovation," said Navjot Virk, Corporate Vice President of Windows Experiences. "With Copilot+ PCs, we’re delivering the fastest, smartest, and most secure Windows PCs ever."
Broad Compatibility Across Processors
The new features are compatible with Copilot+ PCs powered by Snapdragon, Intel, and AMD processors. However, some functions, like text actions in Click-to-Do, are currently exclusive to Snapdragon models.
First introduced in May 2024, Copilot+ PCs have quickly gained popularity, representing 15% of all premium PC sales by early 2025. Originally priced from $999, these models are now available starting at $599, making them more accessible to a wider audience.
Performance That Sets New Standards
Microsoft claims that Copilot+ PCs deliver:
13% faster performance than Apple’s MacBook Air M4
Up to 5x the speed of a five-year-old Windows laptop
Outstanding battery life — up to 22 hours of video playback or 15 hours of web browsing
These impressive benchmarks position Copilot+ PCs as serious competitors for users seeking top-end performance and long battery life.
How to Access the New Features
To start using Recall and other new AI tools, Copilot+ PC owners must install the April 2025 Windows non-security preview update. However, European users will have to wait a little longer, as the rollout in that region is delayed by a few months.
About the New Features:
Recall: An opt-in feature that captures screenshots in the background, helping users quickly retrieve previous activities and tasks.
Click-to-Do: Acts like an AI writing assistant, offering summarization, grammar correction, rewriting, and even object removal from images.
Enhanced Windows Search: Delivers more powerful, context-aware search results to help users find what they need faster.
