Microsoft on Wednesday expanded its Surface series with two new models powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Plus platform. The 13-inch Surface Laptop and the 12-inch Surface Pro feature PixelSense displays and updated Windows 11 integrations.
Both devices include the Snapdragon X Plus processor’s eight cores and a 45 TOPS neural processing unit designed for on-device AI tasks. They also ship with built-in enhancements for Microsoft Copilot, including new File Explorer actions and advanced note-taking in Notepad.
The Surface Laptop uses a clamshell design and offers a 13-inch PixelSense display with a 1920×1280 resolution. Configurations include 16 GB of LPDDR5x memory and removable solid-state storage in 256 GB or 512 GB options. Microsoft rates the laptop at up to 23 hours of video playback and up to 16 hours of browsing per charge.
The Surface Pro arrives in a two-in-one format with a 12-inch PixelSense LCD at 2196×1464 resolution. It matches the laptop’s processing and memory specifications and shares the same removable storage options. The device supports the Surface Slim Pen, which attaches magnetically, and offers a full-size, backlit keyboard with a precision touchpad.
Kedar Kondap, senior vice president and general manager of compute and gaming at Qualcomm Technologies, said the partnership with Microsoft aims to bring extended battery life and dedicated AI tools to users. "These devices deliver the performance and battery life expected from high-end PCs, along with AI features to boost productivity," he said.
Both models are available for pre-order in India ahead of a July 15 ship date. U.S. pricing starts at $899 for the Surface Laptop 13 and $799 for the Surface Pro 12. Indian prices will be announced before local availability.
