Microsoft Launches Copilot 3D: AI Tool to Convert Images into 3D Models in Seconds
Microsoft has launched Copilot 3D, an AI tool that instantly converts images into GLB 3D models, supports PNG/JPG under 10MB, stores them for 28 days, and enables AR integration.
Microsoft’s Copilot 3D can turn PNG or JPG images into fully rendered GLB 3D models in seconds, ready for AR and creative projects.

Microsoft has introduced Copilot 3D, a potent AI-powered tool in Copilot Labs that instantly creates fully rendered GLB 3D models from standard 2D images. The tool's goal is to make 3D asset creation easier by significantly cutting down on the time and expertise typically needed to create models of professional quality.
Copilot 3D, which is currently free for a limited number of users, requires logging in with a Google or Microsoft account. The tool currently supports PNG and JPG files up to 10MB and functions best in desktop browsers. In upcoming updates, Microsoft intends to increase compatibility with file types and sizes.
Users can access it by going to Copilot.com, selecting "Labs" from the sidebar, and then clicking "Try now" under Copilot 3D. Within seconds of an image being uploaded, the AI creates a GLB-format model that is compatible with the majority of 3D viewers, modelling programs, and game engines. For a period of 28 days, all generated files are kept in the My Creations section, allowing users to download, edit, or incorporate them into projects.
Microsoft recommends using images with a clear subject against a distinct background for optimal results. According to early testing, the AI does particularly well with objects like fruit, furniture, and umbrellas, but it can struggle with more complicated shapes like animals.
It is useful for industries like gaming, e-commerce, retail, education, and product design because the export feature also makes it possible to integrate it into augmented reality (AR) experiences.
Uploads that contain copyrighted content, personally identifiable information without permission, or harmful content are not allowed due to strict content guidelines. Microsoft assures data privacy by stating that future AI models will not be trained using user-generated models.
Copilot 3D's speed, user-friendliness, and professional-caliber output have the potential to revolutionise creative design for both professionals and enthusiasts with little expense or effort.
