Microsoft Build 2025 unveils major updates to Copilot, introduces advanced AI agents, and showcases key innovations for developers

Microsoft held its largest developer conference, Microsoft Build 2025 conference on May 19, 2025. The Microsoft developer conference included a number of new announcements in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI) which will bring its capabilities to a variety of applications, features and services.
At the event, Microsoft revealed the launch of new AI agents to meet the different needs of its users. For example for software engineers, Microsoft has an GitHub Copilot Coding agent, a multi-agent orchestration features in Copilot Studio for Microsoft 365 users, Azure and Windows AI foundry, and more.
Microsoft Build 2025: Everything you must be aware of
GitHub Copilot upgrades: Microsoft is changing the way developers work with GitHub Copilot. Before, developers relied upon an editor's assistant in order to give recommendations for writing code. The new coding agent will function in the role of an AI assistant, writing codes for users. These AI agents will run in the background, asynchronously, to code tasks on behalf of the user.
In the Foundry users will be able to access already-built or open source AI models available from Foundry Local to "fine-tune and deploy" projects easily. Within the Foundry users have access to the xAI's Grok 3 and Grok 3 mini models, in addition to thousands of other AI models.
Microsoft 365 Updates: This method makes use of "company information, workflows, as well as processes for training models to build agents in a straightforward low-code manner." In simpler terms, both users as well as businesses can benefit from AI models to draft documents for the company and then creating documents in a similar layout or in a language that matches the corporate style.
The Open Agentic Web: Microsoft unveils NLWeb that lets websites communicate with AI agents. This allows websites to provide users with an interactive experience in which they can be asked for the information they require and the tasks they would like to complete. The NLweb also includes Model Context Protocol (MCP) which makes "content easy to find and easily accessible to an AI agents."
