Lenovo Legion Go 2 unveiled at IFA 2025 with OLED display, upgraded controllers, and bigger battery starting at $1,099.

Lenovo has officially unveiled its next-generation handheld gaming PC — the Legion Go 2 — at IFA 2025. Priced at $1,099 and above, the new flagship device is larger, heavier, and more expensive than its predecessor but comes packed with upgrades that aim to make it one of the most powerful portable PCs on the market.
Key Highlights of Lenovo Legion Go 2
- Price: Starts at $1,099 (16GB RAM, 1TB storage)
- Display: 8.8-inch OLED panel with 1920 x 1200 resolution, 30–144Hz VRR, 500-nit brightness (1000-nit peak)
- Processor: AMD Ryzen Z2 or Z2 Extreme chip
- Battery: 74Wh (50% larger than the original Legion Go)
- Memory: Up to 32GB LPDDR5X-8000
- Storage: Up to 2TB
- Weight: 2.38 pounds (1.07kg)
The OLED upgrade is among the biggest improvements, offering deeper blacks, richer colors, and smoother gameplay with variable refresh rates as low as 30Hz — a key advantage for titles that don’t run at consistently high frame rates. The reduced resolution compared to the original Legion Go (1920 x 1200 vs 2560 x 1600) is expected to help boost performance.
Design & Features
- Detachable wireless controllers with a redesigned D-pad for better precision.
- Kickstand and unique mouse mode, exclusive to Legion Go handhelds.
- Hall effect joysticks for drift-free gaming.
- Fingerprint reader integrated into the power button.
- Compatible controllers with the original Legion Go.
Performance & Configurations
While AMD’s Ryzen Z2 and Z2 Extreme are modest improvements over the previous Z1 Extreme, Lenovo has optimized performance with better thermal and power management. Storage starts at 1TB by default in North America, with higher-end models offering 2TB and 32GB RAM.
Pricing for different models:
$1,099: AMD Z2, 16GB RAM, 1TB storage
$1,199: 32GB RAM, 1TB storage
$1,349: AMD Z2 Extreme, 32GB RAM, 1TB storage
$1,479: AMD Z2 Extreme, 32GB RAM, 2TB storage
Market Context
The higher price tag puts the Legion Go 2 above rivals like the MSI Claw 8 AI Plus ($999), but Lenovo is betting on premium features to attract gamers who want the best Windows handheld experience. For budget-conscious buyers, the company already offers the Legion Go S (SteamOS) at $830.
Currently, Lenovo has not confirmed a SteamOS version of Legion Go 2. Support for Microsoft’s new Xbox full-screen handheld experience is expected in 2026, following its debut on Asus’ Xbox Ally X this October.
