Leaked: Nothing gears up to launch 'Nothing Phone 2a'

Consumer technology start-up Nothing is gearing up to introduce a new midrange smartphone series, tentatively named "Nothing Phone 2a," at the Mobile World Congress in February 2024. According to leaked information reported by Android Authority, the midrange device is anticipated to be launched alongside Nothing's flagship smartphone, the Nothing Phone 3, in selected regions.

The rumored specifications of the Nothing Phone 2a include a 120Hz OLED panel featuring a punch-hole design for the front camera. The smartphone is expected to showcase a redesigned Glyph interface on the back, building upon the second-generation version introduced with Phone 2. The rear of the device is likely to house a center-aligned dual-camera setup, with a prominent 50-megapixel primary sensor.

Under the hood, the Nothing Phone 2a is anticipated to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 processor. The smartphone is expected to be available with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. It is reported that the Nothing midrange smartphone will run on Android 14-based Nothing OS 2.5.

Earlier reports from Android Central indicated that the upcoming midrange smartphone from Nothing appeared in the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) regulatory database in India, hinting at the company's preparations for a launch in the Indian market in the coming months. As the smartphone landscape continues to evolve, the debut of the Nothing Phone 2a adds another player to the competitive midrange segment.
