Kantara Chapter 1 Hindi OTT Release Date Revealed: Nov 27 Premiere!
Kantara Chapter 1 Hindi set for OTT premiere on Nov 27 via Amazon Prime Video. Fans await the digital release of Rishab Shetty’s blockbuster prequel.

According to a report by Filmibeat, the Hindi version of Kantara Chapter 1 is going to land on digital platforms on November 27. It is speculated that Amazon Prime Video has bought the streaming rights for the film at a very high price for the digital release.
Usually, South Indian movies get transferred to OTT platforms after approximately four weeks in theaters, while Hindi movies get an eight-week window on the big screen. Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 went online on October 31, following the regional streaming pattern. If the reports turn out to be true, enthusiasts can count on Kantara 2’s world digital premiere on November 27.
The epic saga has turned out to be the biggest Indian movie of 2025, raking in over Rs 900 crores worldwide. Although the movie is soon to be streamed online, it has still been performing remarkably well at the box office.
Director and actor Rishab Shetty spoke about the making of Kantara: A Legend at a success party in Mumbai. He disclosed that the screenplay was written in a matter of 3–4 months after 3–4 drafts. Shetty maintained that the writing team was honest in their approach, not trying to calculate how the story could fit in the then commercial trends.
While explaining the transition of the prequel, Shetty further divulged that the main character was originally the narrating father of Shiva. He continued that as they kept on working on it, they found out that the first part of the script needed a more elaborate background. "We followed the story right to the beginning, beyond the legend," he said. After 15-16 drafts of the narration, the team was convinced that the prequel had turned into a unique tale of its own.
The Kannada-language prequel, produced by Hombale Films, was released in theaters on October 2, 2025. The story of Kantara: Chapter 1 set in pre-colonial Karnataka under the Kadamba dynasty of Banavasi, depicts the fierce conflict between the forest tribes of Kantara and a tyrant king.
Rishab Shetty, Sapthami Gowda, Gulshan Devaiah, Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, P. D. Satish Chandra, and Prakash Thuminad are among the cast of the movie. Shetty was the writer, director, and main actor of the film, which was produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the Hombale Films banner. Arvind S. Kashyap was in charge of cinematography, and B. Ajaneesh Loknath was the music composer, both of whom were also involved in the original Kantara.
