Reliance Jio has launched JioPC, a new cloud-powered virtual desktop platform designed to function without expensive hardware. Offered at a subscription cost of Rs 400 per month, the service delivers a full-fledged PC experience using cloud infrastructure, complete with AI tool access, virus protection, and 512GB cloud storage.
Unlike traditional computers, JioPC runs virtually. Users need a Jio Set-Top Box, an HDMI-compatible screen or television, keyboard, and mouse. The service is exclusive to JioFiber and Jio AirFiber subscribers, and is accessible through the JioPC app installed on the Set-Top Box.
JioPC transforms existing displays into fully operational desktops using a plug-and-play setup. The service gives access to Jio’s proprietary operating system, Jio Workspace, Microsoft Office, Adobe Express, and other widely-used productivity tools. These services come bundled with the subscription plan, including access to AI-enabled features.
The Rs 400 monthly plan includes one month free for new users. Jio positions the offering as an affordable computing solution for students, remote workers, and small businesses. The setup eliminates the need for PCs priced around Rs 50,000 or more, according to Jio's estimates.
Users can upgrade computing resources anytime, allowing flexible usage based on individual needs. Network-level security protections, built-in cloud storage, and compatibility with common applications are part of the default configuration.
JioPC Setup Guide:
1. Power on the Jio Set-Top Box and navigate to the ‘Apps’ section.
2. Launch the JioPC app and select ‘Get Started.’
3. Connect keyboard and mouse to the set-top box.
4. Sign in with a registered mobile number or register a new one.
5. Access the JioPC desktop and begin using the system.
