The e-commerce giant Amazon has declared another round of job cutting. The company, however, clearly stated that these latest layoffs have no business connection with the earlier 14,000 corporate job cuts announced globally in October.

Amazon has given another notice to Washington State authorities, explaining how it needs to cut jobs. The company mentioned that this is a routine business review process, intending that no major cut is on its way.

Amazon to Cut Another 84 Jobs in Washington

In accordance with the latest filing, Amazon intends to flush away 84 job positions in the state of Washington. A company spokesperson has verified that this job reduction is entirely separate from the announcement of layoffs made in October and should not look larger than it is.

Amazon states that they closely monitor the way their business operations function. Over time, as these regular evaluations are made, changes occur, with the result being that roles are either adjusted or eliminated where there exists a lack of harmony with long-term goals.

What's in the WARN Act Filing

Pursuant to the revised Washington Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, any company intending to effectuate a layoff within 90 days of notice must make this known to the public. Amazon has clearly complied with those guidelines.

While the company embraced the situation, remaining together in this period of intense turbulence indicates the work ethic of the affected employees, says Amazon Seattle spokesperson Brad Glasser. Meanwhile, Glasser promised that the company was prepared to care for its outgoing staff through worker compensation, healthcare benefits, and 90 days of health coverage.

Ambiguity of Earlier Layoffs Still in Discussion

During October, Amazon had shared plans for the termination of 2,303 corporate staff positions in its Seattle and Bellevue locations in Washington, which is a piece of the larger puzzle involving 14,000 layoffs worldwide.

The present trims are actually consistent with efforts and aims of Andy Jassy to streamline the company’s functioning, cutting costs and changing in light of elastic construct changes.

Recent layoffs and prospects of further layoffs still hold in shadows a major worry for the long-term employees of Amazon. The company is consistent that such cuts are routine and minimal, but the back-to-back announcements only deepen the already blooming unsettled sentiment wrought upon all the tech giants.
