iQOO confirmed the launch of its next smartphone, the iQOO 15, in India on November 26. The announcement, which was made by iQOO India CEO Nipun Marya on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) finally cleared the air about the launch date which had been speculated for weeks. The coming phone will certainly be one of the first in India to sport Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC.
However, not everything has been revealed about Indian pricing and features yet, but a glimpse can be had from the mobile's last month's China release. The leaks and official specs clearly show what can be expected in terms of hardware, pricing, and so on.
The iQOO 15 was unveiled in China on October 20, equipped with a highly performant configuration that is meant for power users and hardcore gamers. The mobile runs on Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor with iQOO’s own Q3 gaming chip accompanying it. The extra chip is set to smoothen the gaming experience by optimizing graphics performance and stability even in the most demanding gaming sessions.
The Chinese variant has been launched with OriginOS 6 which is based on Android 16, though iQOO India might go with Funtouch OS 15. However, Marya’s post hinted that OriginOS might still make its way to the Indian units. Amazon India’s microsite has already revealed that Android 16 is the underlying OS.
As for the looks, the iQOO 15 retains the brand’s commitment to the functional and sleek design. The smartphone sports a 6.85-inch Samsung M14 AMOLED panel having 2K resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and up to 1300Hz touch sampling. The 508ppi pixel density of the display guarantees clear images, while iQOO’s display tuning provides for the color accuracy and vibrancy.
The construction has combined a metal frame with glass back, giving the device a luxurious appearance. Among the colors available for the Chinese market are Glacier Blue and Lava Black, but it is uncertain which colors will be part of Indian market's offering.
The iQOO 15 of China sports a rear camera arrangement comprising three 50-megapixel sensors: a main one, an ultra-wide one, and a periscope telephoto one, all in that order. The user's side is taken care of by a generous 32-megapixel camera that captures not only selfies but also supports video calls.
Speaking of battery, the iQOO 15 has a massive 7,000mAh capacity, albeit with the option of 100W quick charging and 40W wireless really fast charging as its lifelines. iQOO might modify the charging process to some extent according to the specific regions such as India.
The price of the iQOO 15 in China is around CNY 4,999 (that’s roughly Rs 58,000). Accordingly, the Indian version may be priced below Rs 60,000. Let’s not forget that the iQOO 13 had its launch price pegged at Rs 54,999, which indicates a minor hike for the new model.
