Apple’s newly launched iPhone Air has been tested for durability by popular tech YouTuber JerryRigEverything, addressing early concerns about whether the slim design compromises strength.

The iPhone Air, notable for being one of Apple’s thinnest models, features a titanium body, unlike the iPhone 17 Pro series, which is made from aluminium. The choice of titanium is intended to enhance structural integrity while maintaining a lightweight profile.

In the durability assessment, the YouTuber applied pressure to different sections of the iPhone Air. Initial attempts to bend the device from the back caused no damage. When pressure was applied to the front, the display showed slight deformation but quickly returned to its original shape. Testing the center of the device produced minor glass cracks and a slight bend in the frame, yet the rear panel remained intact and the device continued to function normally.

Scratch tests offered a different perspective. While the Ceramic Shield 2 display resisted most scratches, the side frame showed visible marks, highlighting vulnerability under harsher conditions.

These findings indicate that the iPhone Air can endure typical daily wear and tear without significant damage. Its combination of lightweight design and titanium construction contributes to durability.
