According to a fresh report from tech tipster Fixed Focus Digital, Apple’s iPhone Air 2 may come sooner than previously thought. The source, posting on Weibo, claimed that the iPhone Air 2 is going to be one of the products unveiled by Apple at the fall launch event in September 2026.
Back in January, rumors indicated that the second generation iPhone Air would have to wait until spring 2027 because the first one did not do well enough. But the latest leak shows that Apple has changed its mind and now the iPhone Air 2 is back to being 2026.
Besides the iPhone Air 2, Fixed Focus Digital says that the iPhone 17e has also entered the mass production phase, hence a spring 2026 release is on the cards. This fact supports the earlier reports about Apple’s plan to spread its product launches over the year.
Previous leaks had indicated that among the new developments for Apple’s fall 2026 release were the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the iPhone Fold. Originally, the iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18, and iPhone 17e were all slated for spring 2027, but now the rumor has it that the timeline has moved up.
Technical specifications of the iPhone 2 remain almost entirely unconfirmed, while rumors still persist about a dual-rear camera system, larger battery capacity, vapor chamber cooling, and lower price compared to the other flagship models. Initial listings are showing configurations like 256GB with 12GB RAM at about $799.99 and 512GB with 12GB RAM at around $919.99.
According to comments from industry observers, Apple’s new timeline might have an effect on the competition in the mid-range smartphone area, where a cheaper iPhone would be available together with high-end ones. Also, the experts point out that the simultaneous introduction of models in various quarters serves to keep the company’s presence and the market’s energy up throughout the year.
Apple hasn’t stated the release dates for any new products yet. The firm, as a rule, reveals the autumn iPhone launches in September, with the pre-ordering opening immediately after the announcement.
