iPhone 17 vs Pro: Big Changes, Price, Launch & Specs Revealed

Apple is preparing to introduce four new smartphones under its iPhone 17 lineup later this year. The range is expected to include the standard iPhone 17, a new lightweight version named iPhone 17 Air, and two higher-end variants—iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The “Plus” model, which failed to attract significant interest, is reportedly being dropped.

While the iPhone 17 is believed to retain most visual elements from the iPhone 16, design changes are more likely in the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Air models. Leaked renders suggest Apple may shift the logo position below the redesigned rear camera bar in the Pro model. Case manufacturers are reportedly creating prototypes to align with this new placement.

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are tipped to feature Apple’s upcoming A19 Pro processor, promising improved speed and efficiency. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 and 17 Air may use the A18 chip, currently used in the iPhone 16 series.

Multiple reports predict all four models will upgrade to a 24MP front camera—up from the 12MP sensor used in previous models. The iPhone 17 Pro is also expected to house a redesigned horizontal triple-camera setup on the back, incorporating a 48MP telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom capability.

Apple has not confirmed the launch date yet, but analysts estimate a mid-September 2025 unveiling. Notably, tech expert David Phelan has speculated a likely launch event on September 9.

In India, the iPhone 17 may be priced around Rs 89,900. The iPhone 17 Air could launch at Rs 99,900. Higher-end versions are projected to carry price tags of Rs 1,39,900 (iPhone 17 Pro) and Rs 1,64,900 (iPhone 17 Pro Max). Estimated prices in the U.S. and UAE are $899 and AED 3,799, respectively, for the base model.
