iPhone 17 Pro Max to Cost Rs 1.64 Lakh? Launch in September

Apple is preparing for its annual product event, expected to be held during the week of September 8, with September 9 or 10 being the tentative dates for the unveiling of its latest iPhone lineup. This year, the tech giant is likely to introduce four models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The iPhone 17 Air is set to replace the “Plus” version in the product range. Although incremental updates are expected across all devices, industry watchers say the focus will likely be on the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max variants.

Leaked images surfaced on social media platform X, appearing to show the iPhone 17 Pro in public. One device in the photos, partly obscured by a black case, is being speculated as Apple’s new flagship. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reposted the images, noting they looked authentic, fueling further speculation.

Reports indicate the Pro models may feature a redesigned rear camera module with a rectangular shape. The alignment reportedly includes a vertical setup for the LED flash, rear microphone, and LiDAR sensor along the right edge of the camera housing. The leaked image also displays circular cutouts, thought to be for the flash and LiDAR unit, supporting these rumors.

Pricing leaks suggest a notable increase across the new series. The base iPhone 17 could be priced around Rs 79,900 in India. The iPhone 17 Air may retail for approximately Rs 99,900. The iPhone 17 Pro could launch at roughly Rs 1,45,000, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max may be priced close to Rs 1,64,900.

In terms of camera hardware, new leaks point to an 8× optical zoom capability via a redesigned Telephoto lens, an upgrade from the previous 5× optical zoom. The lens is expected to support variable focal lengths. Additionally, a dedicated professional-grade camera app is said to be in development. The app may compete with tools like Halide and Filmic Pro, though it is not clear if the feature will remain exclusive to Pro models.

Another rumored feature is a second Camera Control button on the top edge of the Pro models, supplementing the current shortcut button placed on the lower right side, as seen in the iPhone 16 series.

Apple has not officially confirmed these features or the launch date. More information is expected as the event draws closer.
