Apple is preparing to introduce its iPhone 17 series on September 9, with the event expected to reveal four models: the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The top-end Pro Max model is drawing the most attention as it is anticipated to include significant design and performance upgrades, alongside a likely price increase.
The keynote will be held at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET, 10:30 p.m. IST), where Apple will detail its next-generation smartphones.
Industry analysts suggest that the iPhone 17 Pro Max could see a price jump of $50 to $100 compared to its predecessor. The iPhone 16 Pro Max debuted at -$1,199, meaning the Pro Max could launch at either $1,249 or $1,299 depending on Apple’s final decision. The increase is expected to reflect hardware upgrades, design changes, and tariff pressures.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to run on Apple’s new A19 Pro chip, designed to improve efficiency and performance. Camera updates may include a redesigned rectangular rear module with a 48MP telephoto lens and a 24MP front-facing sensor. The phone is also rumored to support dual-camera simultaneous video capture and 8K video recording.
Changes to the device’s dimensions are likely, with a slightly thicker profile of 8.725mm and a repositioned rear Apple logo due to the expanded camera setup. Battery capacity is projected to exceed 5,000mAh, and Apple is expected to introduce a vapor chamber cooling system for better heat management.
Apple may use a glass and aluminum combination for the Pro Max’s rear design, maintaining a premium build while introducing durability improvements. The Pro Max is also tipped to feature 12GB of RAM, up from the 8GB offered in the iPhone 16 Pro series, supporting high-performance workflows and advanced video capabilities.
