Apple’s newly launched iPhone 17 Pro Max in Cosmic Orange has witnessed overwhelming demand, selling out in both the US and India within just three days of pre-orders going live.
According to Apple store specialists, the device was unavailable across all storage variants for in-store pick-up as of September 15. Even the standard iPhone 17 Pro in Cosmic Orange faced similar shortages in India.
“Due to the large number of pre-orders, all the Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro Max models are selling out very quickly and are not available in any storage variant,” an Apple specialist confirmed, adding that deep blue variants were still in limited supply at some outlets.
Apple has assured customers that efforts are underway to restock the popular orange model soon.

The iPhone 17 series is being produced by Foxconn, Apple’s largest contract manufacturer, with facilities in both China and India. Recently, Apple began assembling the iPhone 17 at its Bangalore plant, its second-largest manufacturing unit globally.
- Apple plans to increase iPhone production to 60 million units in 2025, up from 35–40 million last year.
- The company assembled 60% more iPhones in India in FY25, valued at $22 billion.
- iPhone supplies in India grew 21.5% year-on-year in H1 2025, with the iPhone 16 being the best-selling model.
- In Q2 2025, Apple captured 7.5% of India’s smartphone market, with shipments rising nearly 20% YoY.
However, expansion in India faces hurdles, with reports of China informally restricting the supply of equipment and skilled manpower needed for scaling operations.
Outlook
The unprecedented demand for the Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro Max signals strong momentum for Apple in both India and global markets. With pre-orders surpassing supply, the colorway has already become one of the most sought-after devices of the year.
