Apple is preparing to introduce the iPhone 17 series at a global launch event scheduled for September 9, according to industry reports. The event, likely to be held at the company’s Cupertino headquarters, is expected to reveal three models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and a new iPhone 17 Air, which is positioned to replace the Plus model with a slimmer frame.
The company will announce the event on August 26 at 8 a.m. PT (8:30 p.m. IST). Pre-orders for all three models are set to begin on September 12, with devices slated to reach stores on September 19. The entire lineup will ship with iOS 26, which is scheduled for release to iPhone 11 and later models by mid-September.
The iPhone 17 Pro series may debut an aluminum frame, marking a departure from the titanium design used in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro, as well as the stainless-steel frames featured in earlier generations. Reports also suggest a redesigned back panel that integrates glass with aluminum for a refreshed look.
The rear Apple logo is expected to appear slightly lower than before, a change attributed to an expanded camera module. Apple is also updating its MagSafe system, with the logo placement optimized for visibility when used with new MagSafe accessories.
Apple is reportedly introducing a triple 48MP camera setup for the iPhone 17 Pro, replacing the 12MP telephoto lens on the iPhone 16 series with a 48MP periscope telephoto unit. The device is also expected to feature a 48MP wide sensor and a 48MP ultra-wide lens.
The front-facing camera is said to double in resolution, moving from 12MP to 24MP, offering sharper images for video calls and portrait photography.
The iPhone 17 Pro is anticipated to start at Rs 1,34,999 in India for the 12GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. In international markets, pricing is expected at approximately $1,199 in the United States, AED 4,403 in the UAE, and £886 in the United Kingdom.
