Apple is gearing up for the debut of its iPhone 17 series, with the official launch anticipated in September. The company is projected to release four variants this cycle: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the new iPhone 17 Air. Industry analysts suggest this launch could mark the end of Apple’s "Plus" models.
According to insiders, the iPhone 17 series will likely feature 120Hz OLED screens across all models and arrive with iOS 26 pre-installed. Apple is also integrating AI-focused software improvements, signaling a deeper push into on-device intelligence.
Market research indicates Apple may revise prices for certain iPhone 17 variants. The standard model is expected to retain a starting price of approximately Rs 79,999. However, the newly introduced iPhone 17 Air could launch with a base price around Rs 89,999, positioned between the entry-level and Pro versions.
The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max may experience a price increase of Rs 5,000 or more compared to previous generations. These changes are reportedly driven by rising production costs and expected U.S. tariffs affecting Apple's international supply operations.
Apple has a consistent September release pattern. Previous iPhones were revealed during the first or second week of September, usually between Monday and Wednesday. Analysts predict a similar schedule for the iPhone 17 unveiling, with pre-orders likely to begin by that week’s Friday. Deliveries and in-store availability are expected within a week after pre-orders commence.
Apple's upcoming Pro models are tipped to carry the new A19 Pro chipset, while the standard iPhone 17 may use the A18 chip seen in the iPhone 16 series. RAM upgrades are expected, with the base model potentially offering up to 8GB and the Pro Max version equipped with as much as 12GB.
Battery performance is projected to improve in line with larger displays and AI workload support. The front camera could receive a significant upgrade, moving from 12MP to 24MP. Rear cameras on the standard iPhone 17 may include a 48MP sensor, while Pro Max units are expected to sport three 48MP lenses for high-detail imaging.
