With just weeks remaining before the expected launch of Apple’s iPhone 17 series, new leaks have surfaced showcasing dummy units of the base iPhone 17 model, revealing new color options but a design that largely mirrors the iPhone 16.
According to recent images shared by tipster Majin Bu, Apple may introduce the iPhone 17 in six color variants—Black, White, Light Blue, Steel Grey, Green, and Purple. The leaked dummy units specifically highlight updated Green and Purple versions, suggesting a subtle shift in Apple’s color design language.
The company is reportedly opting for soft, pastel-like shades this year, reminiscent of the iPhone 15's palette, moving away from the vibrant hues that marked the iPhone 16 lineup, such as the popular “Ultramarine.”
While the form factor and physical layout of the iPhone 17 appear consistent with last year’s model, Apple is expected to deliver under-the-hood upgrades. The device may feature a 120Hz OLED panel, enhancing screen fluidity for users, and is anticipated to run on Apple’s unannounced A19 chip with 8GB RAM.
Camera hardware may not see dramatic changes, with the rear setup likely retaining the 48MP wide and 12MP ultrawide sensors. However, a reported 24MP front-facing camera upgrade could offer significant improvements in selfies and video calls.
Apple is also preparing to launch a new variant dubbed the iPhone 17 Air, which may replace the Plus model. The Air is expected to offer an ultra-thin profile, drawing comparisons to Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge.
With the iPhone 17 series anticipated to debut in early September, these leaks suggest Apple is refining aesthetics while focusing on performance and display upgrades. As always, Apple has not confirmed any details.
